Information
The Town of Dunn Tree Board continues to make strides in the promotion and management of our urban forest. Our tree ordinance has taken shape and we look forward to the dedication of the trees that were planted in Kegonsa Manor last fall. We have and continue to review the objectives of the urban forestry plan and will be working with Fred Clark of Clark Forestry to achieve those objectives.
This year proves to be a very exciting one. The attainment of "Tree City USA" is especially gratifying for our community.
Benefits of becoming a Tree City:
• Planting trees reduces your global footprint. As trees grow, they help curb global warming by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and the soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.
• Trees provide cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities.
• Becoming a Tree City requires education to improve current urban forestry practices.
• Tree City signs tell visitors that the community cares about its environment.
• Tree Cities may be preferred over other communities when allocations of grant money are made for trees or forestry programs.
