Some of these programs include:

    • Tax credits are available at 30% of the cost, up to $1,500, in 2009 & 2010 (for existing homes only) for: Windows and Doors, Insulation, Roofs (Metal and Asphalt), HVAC , Water Heaters (non-solar) , and Biomass Stoves.
    • Tax credits are available at 30% of the cost, with no upper limit through 2016 (for existing homes & new construction) for: Geothermal Heat Pumps, Solar Panels, Solar Water Heaters, Small Wind Energy Systems, Fuel Cells.
    • Cars - Hybrid gasoline-electric, diesel, battery-electric, alternative fuel, and fuel cell vehicles. Based on a formula determined by vehicle weight, technology, and fuel economy compared to base year models. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles - $2,500–$7,500.
  • Rural Energy For America Program Grants/Renewable Energy Systems/Energy Efficiency Improvement Program (REAP/RES/EEI): The REAP/RES/EEI Grants Program provides grants for energy audits and renewable energy development assistance. It also provides funds to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements.
  • The Green Power Network: Provides information about companies that provide renewable energy in Wisconsin.
  • Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program: The U.S. Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) enables low-income families to reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy-efficient. Through this program, weatherization service providers install energy-efficiency measures in the homes of qualifying homeowners free of charge. The WAP program web site offers a state-by-state map of opportunities, projects and activities.
